Why Start This Journey?
I have come to realize that what you put into your body is extremely important!
I am a former college athlete so I was always told to put nutritious food in my body that would help improve my performance, but let’s be real. I did not eat healthy at all. Being an athlete gives you an excuse to eat bad because all of the movement and exercise that you are doing helps to keep you in a good shape. On top of that, I was a broke college student, so I would eat what I could get.
Now that I’m done playing sports, I really need to focus on developing healthy eating habits that I can sustain.
It’s important to note that I am not saying diet. Diets may help people achieve their health goals for a specific period of time, but they tend not to last after the diet is over. I think that it is better to implement healthy lifestyle changes and eating habits if you want to maintain a healthy body.
I also have a family history of people being overweight and developing blood pressure and heart problems, so I want to get ahead of that. I would love to take those people on my journey with me, so we can find ways to become healthier people together.
Where Do We Start?
The first thing that I had to do was RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!
The internet is a place that is full of information, however, that doesn’t mean that information is true or factual. I had to do a lot of research to see what my body really needs to be healthy. Of course, I’m no doctor or nutritionist myself, so I clearly don’t know everything. However, I wanted to make myself better versed on the topic so I’m not entering this journey blindly.
Throughout my research, I found that there are macronutrients and micronutrients that you need to incorporate into your diet to maintain a healthy body. All of this can really be overwhelming, especially since I’m just starting out, so I decided to have a few main focuses.

I do not claim to be an expert in any way, shape, form, or fashion. I’m just a young lady who is trying to incorporate healthier eating habits into my life so I don’t gain a bunch of weight after being an athlete for all of my life.
